This course is designed to prepare you for emergencies, including cardiac arrest, respiratory concerns, and allergic reactions for Adults, Children, and Infants. You will receive an electronic certification card, which is good for 2 years.

This course is designed to help healthcare workers navigate situational emergencies as an individual, or in a team environment. You will receive an electronic certification card, which is good for 2 years.
Who should take this course? Examples: Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Doctors etc.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. The use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of the fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income for the AHA.

 Course Overview

Our Babysitting & Child Safety Certification Course is a comprehensive, hands-on program for teens who want to be safe, confident, and trusted caregivers. The course includes required American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED training, and successful completion is required to earn your Babysitter Certificate of Completion.

Students will learn:

  • Age-appropriate care for infants, toddlers, and school-age children
  • Emergency preparedness & safety skills
  • CPR/AED training and choking response
  • Professionalism, communication, and accountability

Lunch:

  • A pizza lunch will be delivered on-site
  • Teens who do not wish to eat pizza may bring their own lunch

Who can take this course?
Teens ages 12–17.

How many students per class?
6–9 for hands-on learning and personal instruction.

What’s included?
Babysitting basics, emergency preparedness, CPR/AED training, professionalism, and a certificate of completion once CPR competency is met.

Do students need experience?
No — beginners and experienced teens are welcome.

What’s the difference between this and a regular babysitting class?
Certification requires demonstrating skills, not just learning theory.

What if my teen doesn’t pass CPR/AED the first time?
One remediation session is included. Certification is earned once skills are mastered.

Can CPR/AED be skipped?
No — passing CPR/AED is required to earn the certificate.

Course length?
Approx 6 hours (9:30 AM–3:30 PM), full-day session (30 minute lunch break (2) 15 minute breaks

What should students bring?
Comfortable clothes, notebook/pen, water bottle, and optional lunch if not eating pizza.
